We rent the Lectric XP 3.0, available in both step-through and high-step frames. The Lectric XP 3.0 is known for being sturdy, easy to ride, and fun for riders of all experience levels and can accommodate riders from 5’2”-6’3”
-
Approximately 20 to 40 miles per charge depending on terrain, rider weight, motor assist level, and conditions. For context, the full Hockhocking Adena Bikeway from Athens to Nelsonville and back is about 42 miles. A round trip to Nelsonville on a single charge is doable for most riders on lower assist levels, but we recommend planning your ride with some buffer in mind.
-
Each rental includes the ebike, a foldable lock, all necessary keys including the ignition key, and comes equipped with a headlight and tail light. We will walk you through the basics before you head out.
-
Not at this time. All rentals are picked up and returned at our location at 11315 Jackson Dr. As our fleet grows, we plan to explore delivery options in the future.
-
Not currently. All bikes must be returned by 8pm on the day of rental. As we expand our fleet, we plan to offer multi-day rentals down the road. Ebike chargers use a standard household outlet, so charging overnight at home is simple when that option becomes available.
-
The Lectric XP 3.0 is water resistant and can handle light moisture, but we recommend avoiding riding in heavy rain or standing water. If the weather looks questionable on the day of your rental, reach out to us and we will work with you.
-
Renters must be 18 years or older. We are exploring options to rent to riders younger than 18 with parental consent in the future, so check back as our policies evolve.
-
Our cancellation policy is managed through our booking platform. Details will be presented at the time of booking.
-
A helmet is included with every rental and we strongly encourage you to wear it any time you are on the bike. Your safety is our top priority.
-
Not at all. If you can ride a bike, you can ride an ebike. Most riders experience one or two abrupt starts as they get a feel for the motor assistance, and then settle right in. We will walk you through everything before you head out.
-
Our bikes are Class 2 ebikes, meaning the motor will assist you up to 20mph whether you are pedaling or using the throttle only. You are always in control of how fast you go.
-
Yes, the entire Bikeway is paved. You are also welcome to take your rental onto Athens city streets to explore local businesses and public spaces. Just be mindful of traffic and share the road and sidewalks responsibly.
Riding bicycles on sidewalks is illegal in the downtown "uptown" area, specifically on Court Street, College Street (from Union to Mill), and the east side of Congress Street (from Union to W. State). While sidewalk riding is permitted elsewhere, it is generally discouraged, and riders must yield to pedestrians
-
The Lectric XP 3.0 weighs approximately 64 lbs. It is a sturdy, solid ride. If you have any concerns about handling the weight, just ask us and we will help you get comfortable before you go.
-
The Lectric XP 3.0 has a maximum rider weight capacity of 330 lbs. Please be mindful that the more weight you add, the shorter the range will be.
-
The Lectric XP 3.0 offers five levels of pedal assist, ranging from a light boost to full power, as well as a throttle for motor-only riding. You can dial it in to whatever feels comfortable and adjust on the fly.
-
Each bike comes fitted with a rear cargo basket for your essentials, and bungee cords are included. If you need extra carrying capacity, let us know ahead of time and we can install a front rack for you as well.
-
You will be given our contact number at pickup. If anything goes wrong out on the trail, give us a call and we will either swap your bike for another rental or come pick you and the bike up and bring you back. We have you covered.
-
Just keep in touch with us. We understand things happen. If your late return affects another customer's reservation, a $25 late fee may apply. Otherwise you will simply be charged according to our standard pricing structure.
-
Normal wear and minor cosmetic scuffs are expected and not a concern. In the event of significant damage, we will assess the situation and reserve the right to charge your card for the cost of repair, up to the replacement value of the bike.
-
A debit or credit card is required to rent. Your card is held open during your rental period but not charged until return. Please check back for updates on additional payment options.
-
Sidewalk riding rules in Athens are worth knowing before you head out. Riding bicycles on sidewalks is prohibited in the uptown area, specifically on Court Street, College Street between Union and Mill, and the east side of Congress Street between Union and West State. Outside of those areas sidewalk riding is permitted, but we encourage you to use bike lanes and the Bikeway where possible and to always yield to pedestrians when on a sidewalk. When in doubt, ride on the road and follow standard traffic laws.
